Linda Oestreich became the second consecutive STC Board President to appoint Rich Maggiani, Solari President, to manage STC’s Public Relations committee.

Maggiani set some aggressive goals for the Public Relations committee: first, to develop the concepts and tools for public relations and to educate the various STC committees and other STC stakeholders in leadership positions about the value of public relations; second, to clarify STC’s brand, create brand stories and a positioning statement, and identify global audiences for public relations efforts, all the while tying the committee’s objectives and outcomes to STC’s overall strategic plan and vision.

Under Maggiani’s leadership, the committee defined technical communication, rewrote the Society’s mission and positioning statements, and identified STC’s brand principles. The committee (comprised of members from 12 countries around the world) then conducted global research for promoting STC and the values of the technical communication professional to international audiences.
